Naval Architecture

Whether you're a boat buyer or builder, we provide naval architecture services from ship plans to engineering and delivery.

With a broad range of experience in the design, construction and re-fitting of marine vessels - from sport or pleasure to workboats and pilot boats - we also offer engineering expertise to ensure your boat is designed and constructed to your specification.

Lines Plan, General Ship Arrangements and Safety Plan

We support you to form the ship concept and formulate the vessel drawing package suitable for the certifying authority and builder.

From our knowledge of design and the production process, we are able to oversee the build to ensure the initial intentions are brought to life and the build reaches the highest quality within the agreed time and budget.

In some cases we re-create the lines plan in order to satisfy classification requirements.

Structural and Outfitting Calculations and Engineering Package

From structures to fire protection, glazing calculations to production packages and everything in between, we'll use our expertise and experience to help you create the best result for your vessel.

Our structures and outfitting packages are developed in accordance with the necessary rules and regulations for your craft.

Our designs are innovative and verified with production to secure optimal manufacturing quality and efficiency.

Testing and Certification

We arrange the certification of our calculations and production drawing package together with the range of classification societies.

If product or process testing is required to prove the concept, we formulate a suitable testing programme together with the classification society to prove the concept.

We oversee the testing and support in the interpretation of the results.

Stability Booklets and Simplified Stability Assessments

We are approved to form the stability booklet (SIB) in line with the requirements of the MCA for coded vessels. We form all the necessary calculations, drawings and if required 3D models. These are required in the following situations:

  • Sailing Multihulls
  • Vessels operating in Area Category 0 or 1
  • Vessels carrying 16 or more persons
  • Vessels carrying cargo greater than 1000kg
  • Vessels fitted with a lifting device
  • Vessels engaged in towing
  • Pilot boats

In some cases we take a complete 3D survey of the vessel to recreate the lines and sail plan in order to formulate the stability booklet.

If the vessel does not require a Stability Information Booklet, it will require some form of Simplified Assessment of Stability. What is required depends on the vessel design, the specific Code of Practice, and the nature of your boat’s operations. We are certified to form the Simplified Stability Assessments which is required for yachts and motorboats category 2 – 6.
